Can’t Get Enough by Kennedy Ryan
A Four-Star Book
Kennedy Ryan has a unique talent to remind us that love can be inconvenient and complicated, but still as real as the person sitting next to you. She explores complex feelings and experiences with class and grace, making her books some of my favorite romance reads.
Summary of Can’t Get Enough
Can’t Get Enough is Book 3 of Ms. Ryan’s Skyland series, focused on everyone’s favorite self-proclaimed rich auntie, Hendrix, the successful, childless-by-choice, force of nature I loved in Before I Let Go and This Could Be Us. Hendrix’s story is heavy: As she strives to pursue her career goals, she’s managing her mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis from afar. But, she’s happy with her life.
What she doesn’t plan is a chance meeting with Maverick Bell, the financial titan who’s about to become the newest Black billionaire. Maverick’s ex-girlfriend is Zere, the beautiful model-turned-TV- producer who’s about to give Hendrix her first chance as executive producer. That should make him untouchable in girl-code terms, but there is no denying the instant attraction between Hendrix and Maverick.
With themes of caregiving, ambition, grief, and body autonomy, Can’t Get Enough is an addictive and satisfying read.
“I’ve always known there is power in making your own way, but maybe when you find the right person, there is joy in sharing it.”

What I Loved About Can’t Get Enough
Can’t Get Enough is classic Kennedy Ryan: beautifully written with multilayered characters who face real-world challenges while falling in love. Here are the standouts for me:
- Hendrix: She’s the first in the dance floor, leading strangers through the Electric Slide. She’s the unflappably driven businesswoman with financial goals and a strong belief in helping other Black women achieve their goals. She’s the caring daughter of a mother who is descending into the darkness of Alzheimer’s. And, she’s the sexy, confident woman who stops Maverick in his tracks. I loved Hendrix’s character arc that builds from who we knew her to be in Skyland Books 1 and 2.
- Maverick: At his core, Maverick is a solid, good man. He hasn’t let his financial success impact his personality. He gives as much as he earns, and his generosity goes beyond donations. He sees the good in others and once he’s in, he’s in for good. With his sights set on Hendrix, he must navigate his own goals and confronts the importance of achievement over love.
- The themes: Can’t Get Enough is the first book I’ve read that addresses the topic of childless-by-choice. Since Skyland Book 1, Hendrix has stood by her disinterest in becoming a mother, happy to spoil her BFFs’ children with lavish gifts and attention. This book delves deeper into her choice with no apologies and shows how maternal love looks different than what society expects. Also, Alzheimer’s and caring for an ailing parent is a central storyline in this book. Again, Ms. Ryan uses her talents to show the nuances and struggles of parent caregivers, losing someone you love when they’re still physically present, and how to manage devastating feelings of grief along the way.
Final Thoughts about Can’t Get Enough
I wish this wasn’t the last book in the Skyland series. I love these characters and their stories. Soledad (This Could Be Us) remains my favorite of the trio of friends, but Yasmen and Hendrix have just as much intriguing charm. Can’t Get Enough was a spicy romance that fit Hendrix’s character in every way, from her attractive beauty and soul to her willingness to be vulnerable and open. Loved it.
