The Mistletoe Mystery: A Mini-Review

The Mistletoe Mystery by Nita Prose

A Four-Star Novella Review

I am happy to have revisited Molly the Maid this Christmas season in Nita Prose’s novella, The Mistletoe Mystery. This was a cute, sweet entry into Molly’s story, and I’m glad to have read it.

Summary of The Mistletoe Mystery (No Spoilers)

Several years after the last installment of Molly’s story (The Mystery Guest), Molly is living happily with her love, Juan Manuel. They are settled in their routines and ready for the holidays both at home and at the Regency Grand Hotel, where Molly is now Head Maid and Juan Manuel is now learning to be a chef. But, despite all their traditions and intimacy, Molly senses that something may be amiss with Juan Manuel. As her doubts grow, she relies on her friends to help her solve the mystery.

What I Enjoyed about The Mistletoe Mystery

While the plot of The Mistletoe Mystery was fairly predictable, this novella was delightful because of the characters. Molly is a special soul with a kind heart and a deep need for order. I enjoyed seeing her growing relationship with Juan Manuel. And, as with Nita Prose’s other Molly books, this novella features delightful side characters, like Mr. Preston, the Regency’s doorman; the hotel’s manager Mr. Snow; and Angela, the fiery redheaded bartender.

My Final Thoughts about The Mistletoe Mystery

I am not much for holiday reads, but The Mistletoe Mystery was just the right novella for me this Christmas season. The characters made it worth the read.
